The idea and design of the Adafruit Ice Tube Clock, but the diagram and the firmware have been considerably modified and improved. The central part of the Nixie clock is a tube IV-18 7-digit with a decimal VFD decimal point indicator (fluorescent vacuum display). It was manufactured in the Soviet Union in 1990. The indicator is new, the VFD IV-18 has a lifespan of at least 10,000 hours.
Its operation is simple, the Tube IV-18 contain electric filaments to display the hours in digital format. This fluorescent display system produces less warmth that will allow a long lifespan to your Nixie clock.
